Brittany Furlan Rescues Dog from Coyote Attack in Tommy Lee’s Backyard
Brittany Furlan, actress and stand-up comedian, and wife of Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, shared a terrifying video of a coyote attack on their dog on her Instagram page. The incident occurred in their backyard in Woodland Hills, California and was captured by their Ring security camera.
“I was letting the dogs out to pee and a coyote came and grabbed Neena in broad daylight,” Furlan wrote on Instagram. “Please be very careful with your dogs. I’ve lived here for four years and I’ve never seen one coyote and then today this happened.”
The video shows the coyote charging at their two dogs in the backyard and grabbing their English cream long-haired miniature dachshund, Neena, by the pool and sprinting off. Furlan is seen running after the animal and when she returns, Lee is outside as she’s screaming “a coyote grabbed Neena!”
“I climbed up the wall and grabbed her out of its mouth. Thank God she’s a little bit fat because he couldn’t make it over the wall with her. If it was teenie she would’ve been gone,” Furlan shared on social media.
Furlan stated that Neena is “safe” and their other dog in the video appeared to be untouched by the coyote. “I’m not even letting the dogs out anymore. This is ridiculous. Hug your babies extra tight,” Furlan told fans.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife claims coyotes are native to the state and can be seen in rural, residential and urban areas. Experts with the non-profit group Citizens for Los Angeles Wildlife suggest never leaving dogs outside unsupervised and if a coyote is spotted, small pets should be picked up immediately because they can “easily scale most neighborhood fences.” Pet owners are also advised not to leave food and water outside.
Hours after Furlan posted the “scary” video on her Instagram, she shared an update with Neena enjoying a big box of treats that their neighbors dropped off after hearing about their tough day.
Furlan rose to fame after gaining a large following on Vine, a since shutdown short-form video platform. She then pivoted to TikTok and Instagram and received millions of fans. The content creator met Tommy Lee on the exclusive celebrity dating app Raya in 2017 and they got married Valentine’s Day in 2019.
