Texas Governor Offers $5,000 Reward for Information Leading to Capture of Venezuelan Gang Members
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the capture of members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. The gang, which has been labeled a “foreign terrorist organization” by Abbott, has been linked to a surge in crime across the United States, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, and violence.
“Tren de Aragua has spread terror and carnage in every country they’ve been in, and Texas will not allow them to gain a foothold in our state,” Abbott stated. “Today, I am announcing a reward for any information that leads to the identification and arrest of known or suspected members of this gang who have been or are involved in heinous crimes. Texas will not let these thugs use our state as a base of operations to terrorize our citizens.”
The gang, described by one federal official as “MS-13 on steroids,” has reportedly expanded its operations to all 50 states, engaging in various criminal activities. The announcement of the reward comes as part of a larger statewide initiative aimed at cracking down on the gang’s operations.
Abbott is urging individuals with information on the gang to contact the Texas Crime Stoppers hotline or submit a tip online. All tips remain anonymous, ensuring the safety of informants. The governor’s office has emphasized the importance of avoiding any attempts to capture suspected gang members independently and instead relying on law enforcement agencies.
“With the public’s help, combined with the hard work of federal, state, and local law enforcement, we will capture these dangerous gang members and put them behind bars for good,” Abbott assured.
