Google Assures Data Privacy and Security for Gemini in Workspace
Google has reaffirmed its commitment to data privacy and security with the launch of Gemini for Workspace, its latest AI-powered chatbot. The company emphasizes that Gemini is subject to the same enterprise terms as other core Workspace services like Gmail and Docs, meaning user data, generated responses, and prompts will not be used to train or improve the Gemini AI model.
Workspace administrators will soon gain control over how Gemini stores generated responses and user prompts, allowing them to manage data retention policies. This added layer of control provides organizations with greater transparency and oversight.
Furthermore, Gemini for Workspace now boasts SOC 1/2/3 and ISO 27701 certifications, demonstrating its adherence to industry-leading security and privacy standards. These certifications offer organizations peace of mind when incorporating Gemini into their workflows.
To further enhance security, Google is introducing a new “Security Advisor” tool specifically designed for Workspace customers. This tool will proactively deliver insights directly to IT administrators’ inboxes, offering guidance on safe browsing, data protection, and mitigating potential threats like malware and phishing. Security Advisor encompasses features for Chrome, Gmail, and Google Drive and will be rolled out to paying Workspace customers over the next few weeks.
